  1. It’s bad enough that men like this are paupers but under attack as well and seen as a burden even while “respecting” them. ‘We respect you—get a job.’ The truth is that Israel has lost its way via assimilation with the West, Christian governments, dependence and these rabbis and Hareidim are possibly the only tie that keeps Israel worthy of existence. The continuance of Israel’s current path will end in smoke.

  3. Oh, good: someone who finally understands where the problem is and realises that the rest of Israel has nothing but love for the Haredi, even if sometimes it has to be tough love.

  4. This article is the complete nonsense I would expect from Charedi basher, Harry Maryles (despite his praise of the Gadol HaDor). If you want to talk about people opting out of work let us start with the socialist State of Israel. Zionist Israel shuts down in the middle of the afternoon for several hours for Siesta. Is it not the US taxpayer that is billed billions for the non-productivity of the Histadrut Labor Union. The more you complain about the Bnei Torah as a burden the more the State of Israel should be treated the same way as they suck the marrow out of the bone of the US economy.

  5. I believe in the Charedi Jews' way of life and thank Gd for them – they are the embodyment of all we are as Jews and, just as the main body of octopi is reliant on its tenticles for nourishment, that is how I see this situation. I could not possibly be as orthodox as the Charedi people but still I do not want to lose my identity and yet to keep our religion alive we must have these personnel to show us the way. Yes, look to nature for examples and just as the queen bee relies on its worker bees for survival, we must take pride in assisting to nourish the source of our survival.
