  1. Will they pull the book and reprint with corrections? And fire the editorial staff? Anything short of that is too little.

  8. I took my daughter out of public school when God provided the money to get her back into our churches school. There at least if they are required by law to use a book like this, the teachers will point out the omissions of this type.

  13. As my friend says the bell has been rung. I'm sick of peoples apology for offending my ethnic background 100% Jewish, Some , Many have died because of it. No thank you Scholastic as my ex husband a Catholic used to say don't spit up in the air. I would not accept that apology at all.. It means to me wipe out Israel means wiping out her people if you wipe out the State what were they going to do with the people living there? Drive to the sea? My grand children will not read your scandal sheet.

    Comment by Margie Green — November 14, 2013 @ 1:10 PM

  14. All schools should cancel service with this publication. Bet they will recall all misprinted books and replace with proper maps in them. Was it a mistake or planned is the question?

  21. I bet no publisher recalls books with errors. They get corrected in the second printing. I challenge you to show me an example where every copy of a book was recalled because of an error.

    Comment by Charlie Hall — November 14, 2013 @ 9:05 PM

  22. Don't waste your time and money on the lawyers. There is no evidence that this is anything other than a simple mistake.

    Comment by Charlie Hall — November 14, 2013 @ 9:06 PM

  23. Charlie, Don't need to be challenged. There's a first time for everything. There is also no proof of your statement "There is no evidence that this is anything other than a simple mistake." Leaving out a country is more than a "simple mistake."

  26. This is more than an oversight. It is monstrous, but it's the tip of the iceberg. This is likely how it starts. A little here and a little there. That is the way Israel is betrayed by a sleeping generation.

  27. Are you working in a school?

    Comment by Shiri Dabush — November 15, 2013 @ 12:12 AM

  28. Okay a mistake! If no recall and correction to the publication so that they
continue to sell it is a attack on the Sovereignty of Israel by the printer &
Publisher! A new wave of deception is out today! I'm sorry is not followed
by correcting the offense caused thus rendering the I am sorry as your
not sorry! Sorry if this offends you! (not sorry) That is why depending on
who is President in the White House determines school history books the
details of such 237 years different books World facts yes & omissions .

  29. And of course the Arabic language version of the book will not be republished. This will be a collector's item for the Muslims. The sad, lost soles who think they can diminish God's chosen Israel.

  30. Yes Shiri we need to meet. Lets meet during Thanksgiving.

    Comment by Judith Rogge — November 15, 2013 @ 10:52 AM

  31. Scholastic apologizes profusely for the fact that some of you actually noticed our omission. Thank heavens you haven't noticed yet that we have eliminated all Republican-controlled states from our maps of the United States.

    Comment by Kate Shaw — November 15, 2013 @ 3:50 PM

  32. And just as weird: the arrow that points to some stars on the Sinai Peninsula that states Israel should be here. NOT. Israel is north of that with only a sliver visible in that picture labeled Jordan. Who writes this stuff?

    Comment by Ruth I. Thomas — November 16, 2013 @ 12:49 AM

  33. Charlie Hall Hello? have you heard of a copy editor????
Before anything gets published it gets copy editored.
    Mistake, probably not likely.

    Comment by Mckee Familynz — November 16, 2013 @ 1:45 AM

  34. The Transformers 2 movie (2009) also excluded Israel from its geography. People were going directly from Jordan into Egypt.

    Comment by Oscar Kirzner — November 16, 2013 @ 2:01 AM

  35. Who writes it? Probably Miss America contestants. ;)

    Comment by John AndJoan Rezek — November 16, 2013 @ 3:04 AM

  36. Yes, let's omit Scholastic from our schools because they made a mistake? Seriously, they do more fund raising for the schools. What do you do for the schools?

    Comment by Natalie Grigas Teague — November 17, 2013 @ 4:34 AM

  37. Oh, and you don't want to be judgmental, do you?

    Comment by Hager Rebei — November 20, 2013 @ 9:09 AM

  39. Does anyone else but me think that Scholastic Publishing Co. is not telling the truth. They have sent our schools throughout the country history books omitting the country of Israel. Really?? This is not the first time important history has been omitted in new book publishing's over the past years and no wonder our kids are not learning what we did. And they are saying we are sorry for the oversight. Oversight, they are paying people to review all their books before they go to publishing for omissions or misspellings. Why was not Egypt, Cairo or Iran omitted instead! Is it any wonder why Jews are still being hated today.

    Comment by Mike Miller — November 24, 2013 @ 10:08 PM

  40. I read not long ago that in some history books World War 2 was never mentioned so before my Dad passed my youngest son taped my Dad talking about the war and some things that happened.
