  1. Is America going down the same path, following blindly after pretty speeches?
    God bless those who suffered.

  2. You are amazing as always Debbie! Thank you for reminding us of those who are forgotten.

  3. I am 75 years old; old enough to remember these things happened! I have been blessed to know an older couple who were survivors of this. If America cannot OR will not awaken to what is happening here with the present administration there could well be another Holocaust….right here, because of the choices the present White House occupants have and are making. Open your eyes America and wake up!! May GOD BLESS AMERICA!

  4. I am 84 years old survivor who still gives lectures as time has a tendency to fade the memories of Holocaust. Thanks for both writing and publishing this important article. More than seven decades later, we have to be well aware that the enemies of peaceful coexistence are becoming a serious threat again and the defeatism and indifference matches those during Hitler’s times. Not only the Jews but also the entire humankind is again in mortal danger …

  8. G-d bless you. I speak often of the Holocaust to my children and to my non-Jewish friends. Never again means Never again.

  9. Lest we forget!!!!!!!!!!

  10. Thank you for this – one couldn't say it any better. We must admit, that it is difficult to swallow the reality of the holocaust and even more to continue "that mission". But on the other hand one can not fully understand the human culture if one doesn't understand it's worst derailment.

  13. It's not possible to walk in their shoes, but the world needs a way to instill empathy and understanding into children….and more importantly, adults. With a little empathy, it's a lot harder to reduce a person down to nothing and then, ash.

  14. Thank you for reminding me that as a survivor I must keep speaking up. I speak regularly to a variety of groups but often wonder whether they really listen.

    Comment by Henri Korn — December 7, 2013 @ 10:23 AM

  15. Thank you, all for your support. To those of you who are survivors yourselves, you are my heroes, and I feel so honored by your responses. With strength and grace, you repeatedly give your painful testimony for the benefit of others, and for that, we owe you so much. As a teacher, I know there are times, as Henri mentioned, when we cannot always be sure an audience is listening, but I promise, you are reaching some, and they never forget. If it ever becomes difficult to share it in person, I encourage you to record or write your story, if you haven't already. I intend to always devote a great deal of time sharing these legacies to do my small part in keeping them alive for future generations through teaching, speaking opportunities, writing Holocaust-related articles, and writing the memoirs of survivors, rescuers, and liberators, but if we all do what we can to share the stories, people will never forget.
