  4. My poor dear mother perished in the bergen-belsen concentration camp. She was liberated by the british army on april 15, 1945. She was suffering from typhus and was too weak to stand and walk. I believe she must have been too far gone in order to save her. I was three years old in budapest when she was forcibly deported to dachau and later to bergen-belsen. I visited the camp and its museum in 2011 and found her name in the book of survivors who later died. No date of her death is written in the book. The camp is a huge Jewish cemetery drenched in Jewish blood. I ask the living God of Israel to avenge my mother's death and curse the nazi perpetrators for eternity.

  7. My own family barely got out of Poland to escape the pogroms prior to WW1. They got to the Southern Coast of France, then from there to America. Joseph Wiesner can be assured, the nazi perpetrators are cursed for eternity. Hitler should have read the book of Obadiah. What is done to the Jews, is what will be done to the perpetrators of the atrocities of the attempted extermination of a whole race of people.

    Comment by Judy Evans — January 12, 2014 @ 3:52 PM

  8. Oh, Mr. Wiesner. I'm so sorry your Mom was murdered. You can be assured the perpetrators of the atrocities of Bergen-Belsen ARE cursed for eternity. My own family escaped from Poland.

    Comment by Anne Delauney Muhm — January 12, 2014 @ 4:29 PM

  10. Germany hardly suffered when visiting Germany today. The main issue about Germany is not so much of the killing of so many Jews and others, but why the world as a whole did nothing to save the Jews, and the rest of the people who perished. Why didn't the Jews in America do more for their fellow Jews? That is the real crime here, not the killing of 6 million Jews in the Concentration Camps.

  12. What did you do or would you have done?

    Comment by Alan Kardon — January 12, 2014 @ 4:51 PM

  13. The main issue is still the singling out of a group of people and the subsequent stripping of their rights, including their rights to live. To blame Jews for it is a bit twisted. Besides, Jewish men enlisted in allied countries to fight the nazis and Jewish women served the war efforts like any other women did. Not to mention, most Jewish people in the states didn't get here until after the war. Don't blame the victims for the atrocities. And while we're at it, the Germans lost over 9 million for their support of evil and many of them were civilians which includes mothers and children, and while we can say they deserved it for their support of the nazis, it's best to be careful to wish judgement on others. Each person deserves to be judged by their individual actions. Blanketing blame on entire groups of people is sort of how the whole mess started. But to blame it on Jews? Crazy.

  14. Some of those American Eugenicists that were contributors to this movement had Jewish surnames!

    Comment by Thomas Murphy — January 12, 2014 @ 4:56 PM

  15. As a human this is most shocking. Until now, I thought Psycho was Hitchcock's most disturbing film. Such films should be mandatory viewing in all schools, including the portions showing the rise of fascist states.

  16. Hans Frank, the omnipotent murderous ruler of Poland during WW2 said during the Nurenberg Trial: " A thousand years will go by and Germany's guilt will not be erased". Seems we've let the Germans off the hook too early…

  17. no need to be Jewish to find this shocking, it was inhumane

    Comment by Luis Lalama — January 12, 2014 @ 5:20 PM

  18. Cody; It's human nature. And an old story. Us vs them. You can get "us" to do anything to "them". Alan and Thomas make the standard 'it's the victims fault'. Unfortunately that's also an old story. And 'Roasted'. Most Jews trace our ancestry to pre WW 1. And total German losses for WW 2 were no more than 1/2 the # you quote.

    Comment by Ethan Perks — January 12, 2014 @ 5:26 PM

  19. Anne Delauney Muhm People who say forget to recognize the significance of the other mass murders. The decision was made by Nazi science that the Roma too warranted gas chamber treatment for the benefit of the planet. What was their evil? An alleged genetic propensity to petty theft, homelessness, & prostitution, assuredly false. Assume, however, that it was true. Who kills petty thieves, homeless persons, & prostitutes? JACK THE RIPPER types, that's who. At their best, the Nazi's were little more than a bunch of JACK THE RIPPERS. Comment by Avraham Avi Hecht — January 12, 2014 @ 5:33 PM

  21. In the end, the problem is the celebration or denigration of historical acts. Germany routinely denigrates the Shoah today; many friends are German & a visit there was fabulous. The question for me is why so many celebrate this thing, either directly or by implication.

    Comment by Roxanne Roxanadanna — January 12, 2014 @ 5:37 PM

  22. Ethan, your numbers only seem to account for soldiers that died, not civilians. Anybody that dies in a war either in fighting or the famines that follow are victims of that war. And even if most Jews came here before WW1, you can't say they sat back and did nothing. And even if some eugenicists did have Jewish names, Thomas, you can't pin the nazi movement on Jewish people…some eugenicists got into the field to prevent genetic diseases, not to rid the world of people they found undesirable. In your attempts to be right and to prove everybody else wrong, what have you proven other than your desires to judge the whole by the few? One by one by one. I hope white europeans aren't ever judged by the actions of other white europeans…as much evil as you guys want to pin on the Jews, we've got another thing coming if that same blanket is cast over europeans. Be careful what you ask for.

  28. All of Europe is GUILTY some more than others. Denmark is the only country i recently learned that refused to help the round up of Jewish people. They were warned by the King to get out and people there helped them, hid them, took them by fishing boats to Switzerland. England is already paying for what they did to the Jewish people. so is France and others. They are being overtaken by Arabs. Their fate only GOD Knows!

  45. This film was a link in the current Grecophone news of the Athens Jewish Community, a stunning find in stark "living" "black and white granular film, at times utterly silent, produced by the master, Alfred Hitchcock. The inhumanity of our species is demonstrated in the callous disregard for life, the Nazi killing machine eliminating those it considered subhuman sickeningly effectively, Six Million of Jews, including one and a half million children! And there are people who have the gall to deny this historic fact? For shame! Prof. Asher J. Matathias, Woodmere, NY

Daniele Moseley There were some of us who did not agree with Hitler and his murdering bunch, my family put their lives on the line to harbor and save some of the Jewish people. For them the war was no picnic either, but am truly sorry that so many of your kinsmen suffered so cruelly at the hands of a dictator. One thought though, would the state of Israel have been established if this had not happened? so something good came out of it, and I love reading Amos chapter 9 verse 14-15 "

  63. “The Raw Story,” the documentary by Hitchcock on the Holocaust was literally a walk through the Lord’s Prayer. The journey started with a pastoral scene on the outskirts of the camp, grass, well-fed children, cows and a setting from a picture book. “The Lord is my shepherd I shall not want! He makes me to lie down in green pastures.” Then the film continues on to the outskirts of the camp where the stench led the way, “Yea though I walk in the valley of the shadow of death I will find no evil!” But there was evil, upon evil! “Surely goodness and mercy must follow me all the days of my life?” unfortunately, these people must have been behind the door when that bequest was made! “Your rod and staff comfort me!” The prisoners must have found relief from starvation by being beaten or shot to death! ”You anoint my head with oil, my cup overflows!” The heads were shaved and their cup overflowed with emptiness! Surely goodness and mercy will follow them all the days of their lives and they will dwell in the house of the Lord forever…” The heartbreak of being dragged to their resting place in a pit one on top of another was all encompassing.. There was nothing but anguish in the presence of their foes – And the Germans themselves? They have today risen from their self-induced ashes but the stench from their amoral practices and their presence on this planet lingers on…!

  68. Under a one world government, many believers will once again find themselves in these same conditions. In America and other countries we are raising a generation of young men and women who spend countless hours of the day and night playing video games where they blow away countless bodies by the hour, desensitizing these young men and women to the sanctity of life. These same men and women raised in an education system that recognizes no God (YHVH) have been allowed to curse and degrade their parents even in public, this same generation will in the last days and prior to, will turn in their own parents to be done away with. If History has proven any thing it has proven over and over again that History will repeat, and since the church does not recognize the GOD of the Bible there is no doubt YHVH will once again bring His judgments to a rebellious head strong people, who claim thee is no GOD, YHVH of Israel and of the Whole House of Israel being grafted in. May YHVH be praised.

  71. Where is the respect & dignity denied them in life, that is normally accorded to the dead? The way those bodies were handled was atrocious! The SS believed their victims were subhuman, so even the bodies were treated the same way. How did they get away with it? It could never happen today. We treat animals better. What a shocking indictment on humanity. Did you see how well fed those female SS were? Not for a moment did they ever feel remorse at brutalising their victims. 81. Before we make a blanket condemnation of every European, we need to remember that there were righteous gentiles in every country who helped us; some more in one country than another, of course. While Poland is often singled out for the huge number of anti-Semites there, it's also worth remembering that Yad Vashem's listing of righteous gentiles has more Polish names than any other nationality. And, Michael, don't forget the bravery of the Danes who helped our people escape by sea.

    Comment by Eliyahu Rooff — February 6, 2014 @ 5:10 PM

  82. Eliyahu Rooff thank you. I learn from others and I like that. i know there were a lot of people that helped out and thank GOD they did . I read a piece not so long ago about the children that were hidden by different families all over Europe while the parents were taken away. I was not aware of that. So I am reading more, although it breaks my heart. We should all know what happened then, so as not to repeat it Have a blessed day.
