  4. It was the right thing to do to halt flights. Lufthansa and KLM also suspended flights. I guess safety is not a cause of concern with rockets being fired. This is no time to play politics

  11. Kinda makes ya wonder if some people on this site want to alienate half of America by playing politics. They ignore the support Israel has been getting financially and in the news by President Obama. Are they trying to turn the Democrats against Israel. The politics of division can only help the enemy(extremists)
Really whos side are those people really on

  21. Tony, the U.S. does have flights heading to other destinations which are far more volatile all around the Middle East and the world. Some of those destinations have had years-long conflicts which often involve direct threats to airports. Some of those areas (current and prior) were also in active war states. And yet, the U.S. merely issues advisories to passengers. Currently, the only other two areas with flight bans are North Korea and the Ukraine. So it’s pretty obvious that the U.S. DID offer flights to those areas, but is enacting a ban on Israel, which is dealing with a much lower threat level than other areas that don’t have a ban. A bit of shrapnel falling on the airport is not a viable reason to halt flights, and in order to make that type of decision, the White House would have had to have been consulted, so I for one would like some answers.

  23. Allan, the President has not been supporting Israel. At one point, he was pointedly refusing to answer phone calls from Netanyahu. And that was during supposed negotiations. Even when he defends Israel, he makes sure to criticize her in the same speech. I’m a Liberal, and I am painfully disgusted by his behavior on this issue.

And the financial support is merely a token gesture to assure the U.S. that they will continue to have an ally in the only democracy located in the entire Middle East. It’s been that way for the last five decades or so.

  28. We all want answers! This is deplorable and it’s obvious Obama and Kerry did this to put sanctions on Israel because Israel won’t bow down to Obama’s oil friends the Arabs, the terrorists. So Obama just had the FAA shut down this secured Airport! What an evil jerk! Good for Cruz, maybe he’s not all bad, except for women’s rights, but hey nobodies perfect.

  29. Hey Sarah guess what the airlines stopped flights way before the FAA decision happened and on it’s own. You know nothing and it’s a safety measure and we all know if something happened you would say flights should have stopped. I guess the European airlines who stopped flights are making it political.

Yeah a bit of shrapnel lol missing the point and it’s not economic ban. I tell you something as a person who works in DC and in the govt sector the FAA makes the decision first and the WH doesn’t overrule safety measures proposed by the FAA.
