Rabbi Chaim Wilansky and his wife Esther established a new Chabad House in Bangor, Maine, where he will also serve as rabbi in Congregation Beth Abraham. In Portland there is a growing Jewish community with minyanim on Shabbos, Sunday and Thursday mornings and Rosh Chodesh. The Wilanskys have been living in Portland since July 1987. Some of their children are educated through the Shluchim Online School. They travel around the state in order to bring Yiddishkeit to its smaller communities. Camp Gan Yisroel, Jewish Kids Club, Bas Mitzva Club, classes for all ages and programs at the local community day school and JCA are some of the many activities offered at Chabad.
