The reactions I’m seeing to the horrible news about who murdered the Palestinian teen have me completely mystified. Last week it was “Only Jews care about life” (while Facebook seethed with Jewish calls for genocide). Now its all, “Only Jews feel remorse after one of their own demonstrates he doesn’t care about life.”
Guys you have to stop telling yourselves that Jews are completely and totally different. You have to stop pretending that only Jews feel remorse and guilt and regret when one of their own commits a terrible atrocity and you have to stop pretending that Jews never celebrate these atrocities or honor the people who commit them. Arabs felt remorse over the kidnappings and murder and, trust me, some Jews are happy about the revenge murder. The difference is that more of them tend to act one way and that more of us tend to act the other way but when you pretend and announce that the difference is one of kind rather than one of degree you, in your own small way, are part of the problem.

Our arguments are lively, but at the end of the day, its all just talk.
