The Hebrew word for frozen is קָפוּא.

קפוא comes from the active-simple פָּעַל intransitive verb to freezeלִקְפּוֹא.

For example:

הָאֲגָם קָפָא. The lake froze. and

קָפָאתִי מִקּוֹר. I froze from (the) cold. Mind you, that’s to freeze – just to freeze. But to freeze something else – that’s לְהַקְפִּיא, an active-causative הִפְעִיל transitive verb.

For example:

הָרוּחַ הִקְפִּיאָה אֶת הַמַּיִם הַמְּטַפְטְפִים. The wind froze the dripping water.

Likewise, a מַקְפִּיא is a freezer.

Here’s a song by Danny Sanderson with the word קפוא in it. Enjoy!
