Are You Poll Fooled?

A recent poll claims that most right-wing Israelis would support Palestinian state and the division of Jerusalem, but that is a very misguiding description of Israeli public opinion.

And I’ve collected comments:

So according to the poll, Israel is ready to make peace if the Arabs will implement their agreements…When can we expect the obvious follow-up polls measuring how willing the Arabs are to implement what is necessary to make all this happen?

-   –   -

What the poll shows is that Israelis from left to right all want peace..Perhaps the reason that more Israelis have turned to the right is because of what the poll doesn’t show…What the poll does not show is how the same number of Arabs feel; no recognition of Israel as a Jewish state.  No agreement without the right of return.  Nothing doing without Jerusalem as their capital. No respect for other religions or their holy places.  And the list goes on. The last two decades of concessions, autonomy, expulsion of Jews from their homes, arming the Palestinian police, just to name a few of the major ‘efforts’ Israel has made, have resulted in a real peace being further than ever and an Israel on probation in the eyes of the world.   That giving up land makes our enemies more intransigent, not less.  And coexistence?  Nary a peep about that anymore.

I bet if there was a poll that asked Israelis whether they would support 3 states, so long as it brought peace, they would get the same percentage supporting, so too with 4 states. etc.  Offer peace, Israelis support it – in theory, because that’s as far as they will get to real peace.

Netanyahu at UN GA

My good friend Ruthie Blum and I don’t agree about the value of Bibi’s speech; she’s too optimistic.

Regardless of your opinion on the hareidi community, the food is delicious and super-duper kosher!

Is the global community clear in its response to these extremist groups?

Israeli Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu speaks to the UNGA, Sept. 29, 2014.

Bibi speaks resolutely in forums like the UN but we don’t see that strength on the ground here.

Yeah, I know what you’re thinking but no, I haven’t lost my mind and no, I am not kidding.

Abbas again used the UN to attack Israel, distort history, and undermine prospects for peace.

President Obama showed courageous leadership with his decision to attack “Islamic State” despite the unavoidable ensuing collateral damage.

The solution to the friction with Hareidim on El Al flights is so simple and obvious, it amazes me that it hasn’t been implemented yet.

Obama’s speech was the epitome of chutzpah and hypocrisy.

After Israeli-Arab and Zionist Mohammed Zoabi expressed his support for Israel, he was forced to go into hiding for his safety…

” the Americans mistakenly led Israel to believe that Hamas accepted an unconditional 72-hour cease-fire “

If anyone can claim that what Prof. Shindler asserted and what Netanyahu said are similar, I guess there is something wrong with their reading glasses.

Polls relied on to “prove” Palestinian Arabs want peaceful solution were anomalous and incomplete.
