Dvir Mor, a newly enlisted IDF recruit in basic training, died Monday in Soroka Medical Center in Beer Sheba, apparently the victim of flesh eating bacteria. According to family members, Dvir had complained of discomfort over the weekend and his condition deteriorated rapidly.

According to Dvir’s father, Ron Mor, who was interviewed by Israel’s Channel 2 News, the fact that there was no medical doctor at the base over the weekend contributed to his son’s death.

Mor was a resident Kibbutz Amiad in northern Israel. He was a champion cyclist and represented Israel in several international races.
