Sen. Paul: Hillary Clinton Lied On Benghazi

Sen. Rand Paul, R-Ky., charged during a radio interview on Sunday that Hillary Clinton was “dishonest” during her testimony before a Senate hearing on Benghazi.

During the Benghazi hearing in March 2013, in response to a question from Paul, Clinton stated she did not know whether the U.S. mission in Libya was procuring or transferring weapons to Turkey and other Arab countries.

Clinton further asked Paul to inquire with the “agency” that ran the CIA Annex in Benghazi for more information.

Paul rehashed that exchange Sunday on “Aaron Klein Investigative Radio,” broadcast on New York’s AM 970 The Answer and Philadelphia’s NewsTalk 990 AM and online.

“The Clintons aren’t famous for revealing information. They are mostly famous for hiding information,” Paul scoffed.

The 2016 presidential contender continued: “And no. No information was ever revealed to me. But also in that exchange, she indicated that she had no knowledge of any of this going on. It wasn’t just that I should talk to the CIA. She indicated that she had no knowledge of this. And I believe that to be dishonest. I think she did have every bit of knowledge of what was going on.”

Paul said he believes the U.S. collected weapons from Libyan jihadists and shipped them to Syrian rebels.

He stated: “And what I believe was happening is, there were 15,000 surface-to-air missiles. MANPADS that were missing after [Libyan leader Muammar] Khaddafi was toppled. Many of these went into the hands of radical jihadists. And this was one of the bad effects of Hillary’s war in Libya.”

“But the other thing they were doing is the weapons they could capture and get out of the hands of those in Libya they were turning around and sending them to jihadists in Syria. So it was a really foolhardy plan. And it continues to this day. You have people advising that we should be giving weapons to the allies of Al Qaeda in Syria.”

Abbas Wants Israel To Release Barghouti

Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas is quietly seeking the release from Israeli prison of Marwan Barghouti, the accused architect of the Palestinian terror campaign against the Jewish state that began in September 2000, according to informed Israeli and Palestinian diplomatic sources.

The sources say Abbas eventually wants to be replaced by Barghouti as the new chairman of the PLO Executive Committee and believes the imprisoned strongman is the best candidate to assume leadership of the PA.

The diplomatic sources say Abbas is reviewing methods of lobbying the U.S. to get behind an initiative to petition Israel to request the release of Barghouti. Abbas is presenting Barghouti as a uniting figure who could impose law and order in the West Bank and the Hamas-controlled Gaza Strip.

Following months of rumors that Abbas wants to retire, Amin Maqboul, secretary-general of the Central Committee of Abbas’s Fatah party, told Palestinian media Tuesday that leaders of Fatah unanimously rejected Abbas’s decision not to seek re-election to the PLO Executive Committee.

The move is seen as the first step toward Abbas stepping down as PA president, which he has threatened to do on numerous occasions.

According to Palestinian sources, Abbas sees Barghouti as loyal to his own personal interests. The sources said Abbas fears that if he steps down without Barghouti’s release, the man with the best chances of filling the power vacuum could be Fatah moderate Mahmad Dahlan, who currently lives in the Persian Gulf.

There is much personal bad blood between Abbas and Dahlan, and Abbas sees Dahlan as a threat to his interests in the Palestinian territories as well as in Fatah camps in Lebanon and Syria, according to the diplomatic sources.
