“You shall appoint magistrates and officials for your tribes, in all the settlements the the L-rd your G-d is giving you, and they shall govern the people with due justice.” (Deuteronomy 16:18)

The irony is that in the United States of 2014, a country crippled under the reign of President Obama, the police get into trouble these days for actually performing their jobs and protecting society. When they fire their guns to protect themselves and society from violent thugs, they face a backlash from the lowest elements of society who in recent months have increasingly taken to the streets to riot and loot. In response to a job well done, they come under fire, both literally and figuratively, from the brain-dead liberal elite, the societal misfits of the populace, and the race-baiters who profit by sowing racial hatred and anarchy. This is a sure sign that the United States is rapidly eroding further into a society of anarchy, where a culture of moral relativism and political correctness trumps the inherent right of self-defense.

And across the ocean in Eretz Yisroel, which ideally should represent a beacon of Torah light for the Gentile nations, Jews are murdered and maimed largely because Israeli police refuse to do their job. There is rampant lawlessness in Israel, as there has always been, for the simple reason that the individuals charged and empowered with maintaining law and order are unwilling and/or incapable of responding properly. In tragedy after tragedy, we see the consequence of their inaction, and yet there is never a sustained outcry over this crisis, and certainly no massive government investigation to attend to this frightening reality and to rehabilitate this most crucial of societal institutions. Truth be told, many native born Israeli masses are so depressed into apathy and low expectations that they cannot even theoretically fathom a “moral police force.”

And so we have a Jewish world turned on it’s head: Insanity defined as normalcy; Morality twisted and skewed. Sodom resurrected. It is tragic when morality is perverted anywhere on earth but when morality is perverted in Eretz Yisroel it is incomprehensibly tragic because one would that even a secular state of Israel would protect the lives of her Jewish citizens.

In Israel, one’s hope betrays one’s naiveté. The government grossly inadequately values Jewish lives. So naturally, the police are far removed from the concept of “Justice.” When it comes to arresting good activist Jews, the police are always willing and able. When they wish to show the Arabs that Jews are not permitted to pray on Har Habayit, they are up to the task of removing these religiously motivated individuals forcefully from the Temple Mount. Dismantling Jewish homes, breaking open Jewish heads, raiding the offices of proud Jewish nationalists, all in a day’s work. Preventing Arab lawlessness? Don’t call Israel’s police.

The following terms are ones I freely use when referring to the majority of police in Israel. (Feel free to add any that you deem applicable, it might prove therapeutic): corrupt, useless, arrogant, cruel, condescending, weak, criminal, incompetent, ineffectual, apathetic, thuggish, lazy, dangerous. These are merely a few of the thousands of adjectives one could use to describe the police in Israel. My apologies to any genuinely competent police officer in the country who may be offended by my generalization. I use the broadest of brushes because neither I nor anyone else I have ever met in the country has ever had the fortune to meet you. If you existed, you would become the Israeli Serpico. And so I will continue under the assumption that you do not exist.

Call The Cops? What Cops?

Personally, I cannot fathom a situation where I would place an emergency call to the police. In a genuine emergency, precious seconds would be wasted on a call that will likely go unanswered or will result in the cretin on the other end hanging up on me. Any circumstance that would theoretically warrant such a call would be better utilized by fighting for your life with your last breath. This is the terrifying reality in Israel. A lawless society where fiends get away with murder, because the police are an unfunny joke.

The Israeli Police represent a corrupt institution that perpetuates lawlessness in Israel, both actively and passively. We have all heard the many horror stories, both personally, and on a national scale. They are the norm, and there is never any accountability. I recall a while ago when a man was stabbed to death by some thug in Beersheba because the police refused to follow up with a noise complaint. When the unfortunate man went to speak with the offending party, he was murdered by the psychopath. He was a young married man with a wife and kids. All of this could have been prevented, were there real police in Israel.

Last summer, in a national tragedy that has become an infamous stain on Israeli society, the lives of three Jewish boys abducted by Arabs were thrown away courtesy of the police’s refusal to follow-up with the emergency call placed by one of the abducted boys! And how about the numerous gag orders that the police constantly place on most incidents of Arab violence against Jews. Where is the justice for Netanel Arami (may G-d avenge his blood) who was murdered by Arabs several months back, when they severed his cable at a Petach Tikvah construction site? Netanel plunged 11 stories to his death, while the laughing Arabs fled away from justice. For months there was a gag order, which was only rescinded after relentless pressure from his parents. Why? What purpose does such a tactic have, if not to mask the ever growing reality of Arab violence within Israel?

Ironically, the Shabak manages to identify every alleged “price tag” incident, where a Jewish youngster who in a moment of frustration at Arab terror, uses a can of spray paint to vent his feeling of helplessness. Yet all too often, Arabs who murder Jews somehow elude their grasp. And even if they are caught, they only have to wait for the next wave of freed Arab terrorists, freed to murder again.

The incidents of Arab terror that usually make the papers are the few that slip through the cracks, usually because the atrocity was witnessed and reported. From the time of Israel’s inception, the police have refused to respond to emergency calls or investigate crimes, whether it be from lawless individuals in the Jewish camp or Arab terror. These days we hear plenty of stories, yet they are a mere pittance of the hundreds of stories that go unreported because they are deliberately covered up. Not to mention, the unknown acts of terror that will never be discovered by the same incompetent police.

There are all types of terror acts. The Bedouins are notorious for their passive terror using camels. Recently, another Jew was killed in the Negev during a collision with a camel, because the Bedouins, whose lawlessness and criminality go unchecked, deliberately let their camels roam free across the roads at night. Many Jews have been killed over the years by these wandering camels. Others have the misfortune of living the remainder of their lives in a vegetative state. In this instance, as in all others, the cowardly police refuse to investigate the local Bedouins and apprehend the owner whose actions cost a Jew his life.

If this were a Hollywood script, you would never believe the plot. No one would believe that an independent nation could act with such disregard for the welfare of her citizens, in the face of continuous aggression and neglect at the hands of internal enemies.

And what of the raging Arab intifada, which has turned many sections of the country into virtual war-zones for those Jews who are unfortunate to get caught by Arab mobs. As I type this article, a precious 11 year old Jewish girl is fighting for her life, courtesy of a firebomb that Arabs hurled at her family’s car. She sustained severe third degree burns to her face and torso. Her situation is critical. How much more of this madness must we tolerate?

This is the norm in Israel today. Drive on the roads of the Shomron or whole sections of Jerusalem and you have an excellent chance of meeting a similar fate, Heaven forbid. A visit to a grave on Har Hazeitim can be equally as deadly. Every single day Jews are assaulted in these regions. Why aren’t the police permanently stationed in these areas, with orders to shoot to kill every single rioter who raises a stone?

It’s time to scrap this corrupt institution and start from the ground up. Stop recruiting the stupid, the lazy, the deviant, and the criminal elements of the populace to be the guardians of Israel. Stop hiring incompetent people who are the least qualified of society to maintain law and order. Demand accountability and punishment for those who shirk their duty and ignore the law. The police in society are a reflection of the society itself. In a moral system, the system demands accountability of its officers. It selects proper individuals based on proper screening, and provides them with proper training. It weeds out sociopaths and those with personality disorders. Corrupt societies end up with the equivalent of “Mexican police” who take bribes and may even shoot you. In Israel we have a bizarre amalgam of corruption ranging from overt corruption to the more common strain of total incompetence.

Should we even be surprised, when these are merely symptoms of the total sickness of Israeli society? A society where the repercussions of immoral government actions and inept leadership have created this nightmare. What should one expect, in a society:

  • Whose primary domestic policy is appeasement of Arab terror.
  • Where the government labels terrorists as “moderates” and arms them with high powered weapons which invariably are fired into living Jewish bodies.
  • Where the leadership exchanges the Jewish dead for hundreds of living Arab murderers.
  • Where the government returns the bodies of terrorists to their families so that they can bury them as Shaheeds (Honored martyrs).
  • Where the police refuse to investigate Arab crimes or even respond to them. What does one expect?

What we are seeing with the current Arab intifada, is a foreshadowing of what awaits all of us. The only difference is that the inevitable inferno will be magnified geometrically, then exponentially.

This is what happens in Eretz Yisroel, when there are neither shoftim (judges) nor shotrim (officers) in Israel. When the tenets of right and wrong in society are decided by Israel’s left-wing Supreme Court, rather than the supreme justice of Halacha, the end result is predictably inevitable. We are left with a society which embodies the morality of Sodom, and the intellect of Chelm. A place where Jewish blood is rendered cheaper than water and allowed to flow as copiously.

The call of the hour is Jewish defense. I don’t mean silly “nebbishy” community patrols that have no intention of responding to Arab violence. I am referring to groups of trained Jews patrolling and protecting vulnerable Jews and sensitive regions where attacks have become the daily norm. Our failure to enact such a system is a stain and a shame upon us. While the Arab masses take to the streets on a daily basis hurling cinderblocks and firebombs at Jewish cars, the Jewish response has been absolute silence. There has not even been ONE confrontation of Jewish strength, not ONE massive Jewish standoff to meet these savages on the playing field and give it to them the way the police should be doing.

Ironically, and also tragically, most Jewish civilians with guns refuse to shoot Arab rioters who firebomb their cars out of fear of being imprisoned. What good is a gun if one refuses to use it when his life is imperiled? Prison may be terrible, but is the casket a preferable home?

This Jewish silence should shame us and enrage us. It’s time to flex our Jewish muscles and fight for our brothers and sisters. If the police won’t do their jobs, then the onus is upon all moral Jews who care about Am Yisroel to do something. I am not speaking of random acts of violence, or extra-legal measures. I speak of basic Jewish survival and our right to live and breathe anywhere in Israel. If the pathetic police and the laissez-faire leaders of this lunatic country won’t protect Jews, then we have one obligation: sanctifying G-d’s name by fighting for Jewish lives.

This isn’t a radical notion. This is the law of the Torah. G-d gave us life and we have an obligation to preserve it.

How long until the Jewish masses finally wake up? We are dealing with today’s Amalek: Savages who feed on Jewish blood; Beasts who celebrate Jewish death and misery. With such people there is only one tongue to use, one language that they understand. The language of violence. May we see an awakening of Jewish gevurah and fire. And may we see the total destruction of the evil infecting the Arab/Islamic world, who wages war with both the Am Hanivchar (The Chosen People)and with G-d Himself.
