To those who harbor, in the back of their minds, the uneasy notion that America's friendship with Israel really was the reason for the September 11 events, an article by Holger Jensen in Sunday's New York Post should be required reading. In the course of making a point about how the nations of the world seem to tolerate terrorism when it promotes their immediate political aims, Jensen also provides a revealing catalog of the Osama bin Laden terror agenda:
Osama bin Laden was a “freedom fighter” when the CIA-backed mujahideen were waging war on the Soviet occupiers of Afghanistan. Now he is a terrorist condemned by all but a few rogue nations.
Yet in his own perverted logic he's still a freedom fighter seeking to free the holy land of Saudi Arabia from “occupation” by American troops, from American “exploitation” of its soil and from a “corrupt” and “godless” Saudi royal family.
He is also trying to free Iraq from U.S. sanctions and aerial bombardment; Palestinians from Israeli occupation; Egypt, Jordan, Kuwait, Morocco, Algeria and other pro-Western Arab nations from their secular rulers; Bosnian Muslims and Kosovo Albanians from domination by Christian Serbs; Chechen Muslims from rule by Russia; Filipino Muslims from rule by the Catholic majority; Kashmiri Muslims from Hindu rule; Muslim Uighurs from Chinese rule; Indonesian Muslims from having to share their islands with Indonesian Christians; and Central Asian Muslims from their post-Soviet bosses.
So much for Israel being at the root of the terrorism problem!
