We note that the Conference of Presidents of Major American Jewish Organizations will be holding a dinner next week marking 50 years of peerless service to the Jewish community. The dinner will honor recent chairmen of the Presidents Conference as well as its indefatigable vice chairman, Malcolm Hoenlein, who has served in that capacity for more than 25 years and has become the public face of the organization.

The Presidents Conference has proven to be a no-nonsense, wholly professional, behind-the-scenes power and has emerged as key to such significant issues as advancing the special relationship between the United States and Israel; aiding endangered Jewish communities worldwide; and building support for Israel in the United Nations and around the world. It is also playing a leading role in mobilizing opposition to Iran’s nuclear weapons ambitions.
