For both Mr. Abbas and the Times, peace cannot come because weak, peace-seeking Palestinians are at the mercy of an unreasonable, powerful Israel. And that is precisely the narrative they hope President Obama falls for. Whether or not he does will tell us a lot about what to expect from the White House over the next four years.
