Though the economy weighs heavily as an election issue, we must also be concerned for Israel. We can only imagine the pressure that will be exerted on Israel in a second Obama term. Yet most Jews apparently still favor Obama.

This is no time for apathy. The stakes are much too high. It is imperative for all of us to vote. The result in New York may seem a foregone conclusion, but we must take a stand.

If you have friends or family in key states like Florida or Ohio, urge them to vote, too.

Let me simplify it. If you aren’t happy with the way things are, vote against the incumbents in Washington. Even if the challenger seems unlikely to win, keep in mind that if we never oppose them, they will never pay attention to us.

My fellow Jews: Don’t sit this one out!
