And why isn’t the U.S. sitting down with al Qaeda to talk peace in Iraq? No need to divide the country (like everyone insists Israel do with its sworn enemies). No need to force the Iraqis to share or surrender their capital city (like the world demands Israel surrender Jerusalem).

Or would that be throwing “caution” to the wind, Mr. Gates?
