In Defense of MK Rabbi Dov Lipman

Perhaps it is time for us to stop talking about Rabbi Lipman and to start talking about the issues which he has brought to the fore.  Perhaps we should begin to acknowledge that core Torah values support his vision for a life of Torah together with serving the nation and earning a living instead of filling our time with personal attacks.  And, even more importantly, it is time to declare that these personal attacks themselves fly in the face of the very Torah values which these authors portray themselves as seeking to defend.

  1. Treating animals properly is a Mitzvah in the Torah, but calling that "core Jewish values" is a misrepresentation bordering on the ridiculous. I have never seen this Mitzvaj in the Aseres Hadibros or the 13 Ikarim of the RAMBAM.

  2. This is not complex. Orthodox Rabbi want their followers incompetent. It is a matter of control and self preservation. Their followers remain ignorant of the modern world and incapable of function in it. No means to get out and no knowledge of what it is.

    Lets try it this way. Given the choice would you rather live in 21st century Israel or America OR 14th century Poland?

    Now lets do it again , lets take all exposure and knowledge of the modern world. What is your answer?

    Ignorance and incompetence( I. e. No Secular Eduction) keeps Orthodox Rabbis in power and more importantly – in business.
