US Attorney General Eric Holder. He's now Obama's scapegoat for dealing with Jonathan Pollard. Will he do the right thing?

Likewise, a president is empowered to commute a sentence to time served; meaning Obama could, if he chose, decide to grant Pollard his freedom by commuting his life sentence to time served — in this case, 28 years. This is not a legal privilege granted to the attorney general, as the president is well aware, but it lets Obama avoid making a tough (or not so tough) decision.

Who originally said, “The buck stops here,” must not have been a sitting US president.
