Jewish Press Radio: Purim! Ancient Iran and Syria Become Modern Reality

Megillat Esther

The Yishai Fleisher Show is Israel’s only English-language FM talk show and it is brought to you in partnership with JewishPress.com

Great Purim audio is here:

Joy is the Answer Segment #1

Purim is here and this week’s show kicks off with Yishai, joined by his wife and co-host Malkah, talking about the holiday and how it is being celebrated, including the production of a recent video with features Malkah baking hamantashen.  Other topics in this segment include discussing a recent video created to raise awareness about the release of Jonathan Pollard, human rights atrocities in Syria and how individual Israelis should be involved and similarities between Haman and Amalek.  The segment continues with Eve Harrow and Yishai looking at alternate perspectives to life events and wraps up with Yishai talking about his recent phone call with Israeli clarinetist Chilik Frank and his excitement to have his music used to encourage Jews worldwide.

A Culture of Complacency Segment #2

Yishai is joined in a busy Jerusalem café by his friend and colleague Rabbi Shimshon Nadel.   Together, they discuss the relationship of Purim today and how Jews celebrating in exile led to a situation that caused a sudden waking up and realization and desire to move home.  Specific Halachic laws regarding Purim falling on Friday night are also elaborated on.

The Purim Story, Today  Segments #3 and 4

In the final two segments of this week’s show, Yishai presents a Purim class he gave the tought on the eve of Purim 5772 at HaKotel Yeshiva in Jerusalem.  The text of the Megilla is full of secrets about how to handle the dangers of Amalek. Follow the criminal mind and learn about the traits of Amalek, if you dare to fight him. The show wraps up with Benjamin Netanyahu’s strong speech from AIPAC 2012 in which he called for dealing firmly with the threat of Iran, and not waiting for other nations to deal with Israel’s foes for her.

While conceding that not all criticism of Israel stemmed from anti-Semitism, Podhoretz contended that those most likely to subject Israel to relentless and one-sided hectoring could be found with increasing frequency in one particular grouping – that of the political left, with the level of animosity rising exponentially the farther left one moved along the spectrum.
