The following inspiring story was told to Rochelle Rothman by her close family member. It truly shows how Hashem runs the world, and helps us in all of our endeavors.

It was another great trip to Eretz Yisrael for Sukkos, as it was wonderful and spiritually satisfying to be able to daven by the Kotel for Yom Tov. What was especially meaningful for me was to daven for the people on my long Tehillim list that I carry with me. I really felt as if I had a closer connection to Hashem. I prayed that all of their painful issues would be resolved by the Almighty.

My husband and I visited many of our relatives and friends who reside there.

We met some interesting people on the flight home that, Baruch Hashem, was uneventful. It felt good to get home, even though I had to go straight to my job from the airport.

It was quite crowded going through customs, being that the push to get through was strong. Since it was a very early flight, it seemed that I was not the only one who was arriving from Israel and going straight to work.

As soon as we got out of that initial area, I realized that I was missing my extra bag – the one I carry with me, filled with all of my siddurim and my special Tehillim list (of which I don’t have a copy). Even the sefer I use is special to me. I quickly asked the guard if I could go back to get it. He said that I would have to wait until the hundreds of people got through first. But that could take at least another hour, and I needed to get to work! What should I do?

I called my daughter. She said she would call the airport’s Lost and Found Department later that day. I told her to put money in the Rabbi Meir Baal Haness pushka and say the pasuk to find lost articles.

I proceeded to my job in Manhattan. About half an hour passed when I received a phone call from my husband. He excitedly explained that a woman had called him with the great news that she had my missing bag!

He said that she was on line behind me at the airport and noticed an unclaimed bag just sitting there. She looked inside, noticed the sefarim, took them with her, and planned to try to locate the owner. She looked in the siddur and, lo and behold, she saw my husband’s cell phone number.

My husband picked up the bag in Boro Park where the woman lived.

It’s amazing to witness how Hashem answers our tefillos while showing us the attributes of the beautiful mitzvah of hashavas aveidah at the same time.

Mi K’amcha Yisrael!
