Maccabi Haifa is the new Israeli Basketball State Champion for the 2012-13 season. They beat Maccabi Tel Aviv, which is kind of the Yankees of Israeli basketball, except with a much better record. They won the playoff final 86-79, and took the title for the first time in its history.

This is the third time in the last decade that the Tel Aviv team has lost the final game – having partcipated in all of them, if I’m not mistaken.

Of course, both coaches and half of each team are American, which is the norm on this side of the ocean.

I understand there was a pretty stormy NBA final last night, too… (Big 3 helps Miami Heat level series with Spurs)
