Netanya, my new, adopted home town, has miles of beautiful coastline along the Mediterranean, and a reputation in Israel for being the crime capital of this small and volatile country. So, my friend David Goldberger agreed this morning in shul, while waiting for the Hatarat Nedarim (revocation of vows) court to assemble and hear our pleas, that Netanya would be the perfect place for unloading one’s sins. If you combine miles of shoreline with a high absorption capacity for sins – that should be a Tashlich magnet.

So, this Rosh Hashanah book your hotel room early near the water, and on the prescribed day (tomorrow, so you need to hurry) join the thousands of sin-throwing connoisseurs at the beach.

Here’s the Sanzer Rebbe, riding on his horse (not on Rosh Hashanah), in the streets of Netanya. Nothing to do with Rosh Hashanah, really, but what a great picture, right?

For all of us at Photo of the Day, I wish you and yours a happy, rewarding, successful and, if at all possible, whimsical new year.
