Why would someone risk life and limb to rescue someone whose life or limbs hang in the balance? This week, Heather learns all about the life and career of Dovie Maisel, one of Israel’s most established and innovative emergency medical service (EMS) workers. Maisel reveals the shocking incident he witnessed as a child which later motivated him to enter the field of emergency medical service.

Maisel is the Director of International Operations at United Hatzalah of Israel and Israelife, and also Senior Vice President of Operations at United Rescue. He explains how the network of United Hatzalah’s 3,200 volunteer (!) medics help save thousands of lives each year across Israel by providing free medical treatment 24/7, and usually in three minutes or less.
