Dr. Michael Doran is an American expert on the international politics of the Middle East, a Senior Fellow at the Hudson Institute and a former Deputy Assistant Secretary of Defense at the Pentagon. His recent article in Mosaic Magazine, “Obama’s Secret Iran Strategy,” has caused a firestorm in the policy world. He joins Yishai from Washington to discuss the US president’s attempt at detente with the Iranian regime, and the brouhaha surrounding PM Benjamin Netanyahu’s upcoming speech before Congress.
Then, Nachman Rosenberg, the former executive vice president of Tzohar, an organization calling for reform in the Israeli rabbinate, joins Yishai in-studio. He says that Israel’s religious establishment may actually be destroying the Jewish character of the state, claiming that it has developed into a dysfunctional government monopoly that poses no less of a strategic threat than Iran.
