Christian Comedy? Seriously?

Pat Condell

Pat Condell

I sure hope our readers won’t begrudge us this fresh, brand-new Pat Condell video, even though he says nothing about Jews or Judaism. I’m so totally sweet on Condell, I wait for his new videos the way we used to wait for those new Beatles albums. OK, not quite the same way, I’m not 12 any more (although some readers may think otherwise).

Condell is a sworn atheist, if that combo is logically acceptable. But he isn’t one of those atheists who don’t want other people to love God, it’s just for himself. I appreciate that. He’s so biting and funny when he talks about Muslims and Christians, I shudder at the thought that one day he’ll pick on Haredi Jews.

You’ll get a front row seat, God willing.

About the Author: Yori Yanover has been a working journalist since age 17, before he enlisted and worked for Ba'Machane Nachal. Since then he has worked for Israel Shelanu, the US supplement of Yedioth, JCN18.com, USAJewish.com, Lubavitch News Service, Arutz 7 (as DJ on the high seas), and the Grand Street News. He has published Dancing and Crying, a colorful and intimate portrait of the last two years in the life of the late Lubavitch Rebbe, (in Hebrew), and two fun books in English: The Cabalist's Daughter: A Novel of Practical Messianic Redemption, and How Would God REALLY Vote.

I just LOVE Pat Condell!!!! And in this bit, doing a number on Christian Comedy, in his own inimitable way, he drives his point right home. He gets it – totally – and delivers the message with a style of tongue-in-cheek humour like no one else can. This man REALLY needs to consider running for British PM – I am sure he'd win – no contest!!!

  3. Clo Clo says:

Um…Christians respect laughter…but do not want her hear obscene- f-bomb laced jokes. that is not funny. i can’t watch more than the 1st 20 secs…poor guy-I pity him. hopefully he’ll have a divine meeting or a near death experience…so he can find out about the truth-life after death & God. Shame on you ‘Jewish Press’. We are to stand united – not mock oneanother

  5. This guy is not even funny…not because I’m a Christian but just because he isn’t, at least if this is his normal material. His argument for lack of a better word is like me, a white guy from Florida, talking about what it’s like to grow up in a Vietnamese child in Vietnam. He seriously has no clue whatsoever about what he’s talking (trying to be witty and humorous?) about but then again most of his audience I would guess has no real ability to think objectively as their presumption is skewed by their worldview from the get go.

  6. Alex Rivera says:

Well Pat Condell, if you haven’t seen Jesus laugh, it was probably because all the ones before Him didn’t either, Moses, Jeremiah, Isaiah etc.. Seriously? So much for atheistic intelligence.. What a putz..

  7. Alex Rivera says:

And by the way Jewish press, this is a brave new world, the division which you seem to capitalize and monopolize will one day end, with Jews and “Christians” hugging each other, hope were around to see it..

  8. Alex, I agree. I love my Jewish brothers and sisters who I live life with where I’m currently at. We have common respect and love for each other.. But we also laugh and joke together/with each other over our certain peculiarities.

  9. Susan Kanina says:

People can decide on their own whether or not they enjoy Pat Condell. Whether or not this piece should be highlighted in the Jewish Press is another question. Yori Yanover worries about him skewering chareidi Jews. The question is how we would feel if he did and it appeared on Christian websites. Running this was completely inappropriate and highly offensive to the, sadly few, people who support Israel and traditional Jewish values.

  10. Akio Kagemusha says:

Love it! Of course he's wrong regarding Jesus`s apparent lack of humor. In fact, Jesus is as biting as Pat. Mostly at the expense of the religious community, as Pat has done. Read the gospels again, with this new thought Pat.

  11. Rachelli Maiter says:

Completely agreed with fellow Susan Kanina, her comment says it all. Let us guard ourselves from laughing from things that when done to US, jews, we don't accept at all. Yori, most of your columns are so good, please don't mess up your good job! Shalom!

  12. Kola Finger says:

One have to love PAT CONDELL. Because he is correct in any meaning he makes, and he is a Truth-tell for real. He is the best Englishman I know, even if he is born an Irishman for what they hate him for being just as an exceptional Irishman he is. Love PAT CONDELL, because truly is a TRUTH-TELLER, one among very few today of this value!
