Attorney General Avichai Mandelblit objected to a bill sponsored by the Haredi coalition partners which prohibits Reform ceremonies in state funded ritual baths and concentrates control over local baths in the hands of the chief rabbinate. In an opinion issued Sunday night, Mandelblit determined that limiting the dipping in the ritual baths to only one Jewish denomination violates the core of the right to religious freedom and the right to equality.
