Nachaliel Jacobs is a 12-year-old yeshiva boy from New York who decided to turn his upcoming Bar mitzvah celebration into an opportunity: he initiated a fundraising effort to give 300 Israeli children with cancer the Purim carnival of their life: dancing and singing and laughing — a few hours of serious joy.

Nachaliel’s researched and decided on Zichron Menachem, which raises money for children with cancer. His parents contacted Zichron Menachem and organized a Purim carnival at the organization’s treatment center in Jerusalem, to which they invited more than 300 children with cancer and their families. Next Nachaliel started taking care of the money part.

At a young age, Nachaliel had bought live chickens, built a chicken coop in his backyard, collected, cleaned and sold the eggs, then sold the chickens. He also saved every dollar his parents and grandparents had ever given him. Altogether, it came to about $1,800, which he dedicated to the carnival. But he needed $18,000 to pay for the food, jugglers, music, face painters, clowns, contests, prizes, trips, magicians, activity booths, games, shows and Shaloch Manos gift food bags.

So he approached Charidy.com, which is a kickstart website for charity ventures, and they helped him tell his story, and pull the heartstrings:

THE TOTAL COST OF THE PURIM CARNIVAL IS $18,000.

Without this campaign and your donation, this event would not take place due to lack of funding!

Together with Nachaliel, show the world that everybody can make a difference, no matter how young or old they are.

As of the week of Purim 5776, 167 donors have given Nachaliel$20,909, more than enough for the lavish carnival.

Happy Purim, Nachaliel, you taught us something.
