Young Arab men with masks inside the Al Aqsa mosque (some wearing shoes -- absolutely forbidden in Islam), stockpiling rocks to throw at Jews who visit the Temple Mount grounds, Sept. 2015

A Lod police officer was wounded Wednesday evening after being struck in the head by a stone that was thrown by rioting Arabs.

The attackers were “demonstrating” their anger over the determined enforcement of laws by security personnel permitting visits by Jews to the grounds of the Temple Mount, in which the Al Aqsa mosque is located.

The “demonstration,” held in a central square of the city, quickly turned violent as the “protesters” had planned ahead by bringing their own ammunition (stones, etc.) to the event.

Five of the attackers were arrested by security forces in the central Israeli city, which is located close to Ben Gurion International Airport.
