A personal note:
My son’s kindergarten (like many around the country) put together care packages for the soldiers in Gaza.
Just now, Erev Shav Shabbat, a man called up to talk to my son. We were a bit surprised.
It turns out it was from the army.
The soldiers were calling up all the children who sent them packages for Shabbat and thanking them personally.
My son is beaming right now.
