Abbas Says ‘No Way’ to Jewish State Recognition

Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas has said there is “no way” he will recognize Israel as a Jewish State as part of a framework deal with Israel, the Palestinian official WAFA News Agency reported.

Recognition of Israel as a Jewish State is one of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s key demands during the peace talks. Reports indicate that U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry will add this demand to the U.S. framework for peace, which is expected to be released soon.

According to WAFA, Abbas said he has withstood pressure by the U.S. before over U.N. recognition of a Palestinian state, and suggested that he could do it again.

  8. No recognition of our existence is no desire for peace whatsoever. For one side to be denying the others right to exist is a clear statement that peace is not in their interests. Seems like the most basic step for peace, imo.

Its past time for everyone to care about who the they recognize or not. They are the ones who have corrupted any chance for normal relations to become a reality. Israel has every right to be there.

  20. Kjeld Hesselmann says:

Recognition or no recognition it’ll all be the same; Israel is “The Jewish State of Israel”. Abbas and consorts better get use to this fact. And the Israeli government better act accordingly to this proclamation as a first commandment to the Arab surroundings.

  21. Robert Daren says:

It’s obvious that there will be no two state solution since one of the players refuses to recognize the other. It’s time to stop this game and recognize only a ONE STATE solution is the answer. The arabs living in Israel are much happier and have more freedom than those living on PA control. Stop this insanity already. Terrorist know nothing except terror and have no desire to act civilized. Stop trying to make them something they have no desire to be.

  22. Who cares what he says
God holds his hands over Israel!!

  23. Abbas doesn’t even speak for the Palestinian people any more, does he? What a mess people are trying to push on to Israel!

  24. Nice catch 22, recognition from something you say didn’t ever exist.

  25. John Fluger says:

….good now they dont have to recognize the so-called palestinian state….

  26. No more peace negotiations!!! What a pity.
Israel should not continue releasing the prisoners until PA confirms they recognize Israel as a State.

  27. The Application of the State of Palestine for admission to membership in the United Nations, which the Palestinians submitted to the UN Secretary General on September 23, 2011, states as follows:

“This application for membership is being submitted based on the Palestinian people’s natural, legal and historic rights and based on United Nations General Assembly resolution 181 (II) of 29 November 1947…”

Part II of Resolution 181 contains Section A, entitled “THE ARAB STATE,” and Section B, entitled “THE JEWISH STATE.”

The Obama administration has not, is not & will not be telling Abbas in no uncertain terms to explicitly embrace the principle of a Jewish state and an Arab state, as outlined in Resolution 181.

Abbas has not, is not & will not explicitly acknowledge his support of the two-state principle declared in United Nations General Assembly Resolution 181 recommending the partition of Palestine into independent Arab and Jewish states.

Thus since Abbas refuse to explcitely & publicly recognize Israel as a Jewish state, It is then time to call Abbas’ bluff & IF Israel consider itself as a Jewish State, It should then make the necessary moves to the UN so the UN reject the said September 23, 2011 Application for admission to membership in the United Nations as the State of Palestine.
