Update: The answer is no. At 6:22am Monday, they shot again at the Eshkol region. So they probably just needed some sleep. But the rumors are still flying that they want a ceasefire.

Since 5 minutes to midnight, not a single rocket or mortar has fallen on Israel for more than the past two hours (as I write this article).

And the last rockets that fell were a massive barrage, which has become Hamas’s signature act before any ceasefire commences.

Rotter.net is full of rumors (many translated from Arabic by David Robben) that Hamas, and the other Islamic groups have agreed to some sort of ceasefire, and even dropping some of the negotiating demands they previously said were red lines for them.

You may not recall, but the Israeli negotiating team returned to Cairo the other day.

Could it be that Israeli negotiations with Hamas have recommenced, in secret, without us very concerned citizens knowing about it?

Could Israel’s new targeted assassination project have worked too well, and Hamas leaders are now so terrified of being assassinated, that they want to return to the negotiation’s table, before we can finish the job?

It’s not such an implausible an idea.

Only time will tell.
