Barbara Walters Hospitalized

ABC’s Barbara Walters fell during an inauguration party in Washington and has been hospitalized, AP reported.

Walters, 83, fell on Saturday night at the residence of British Ambassador Peter Westmacott and sustained a cut on her forehead.

Walters was taken to hospital for treatment and an examination. An ABC spokesperson said she was alert and was “telling everyone what to do, which we all take as a very positive sign.”

In 1976, Walters became the first female network TV news anchor, earning $1 million annually. Her exclusive interviews with world rulers and celebrities made her a star. In 1997, she created “The View,” a hit, live weekday morning talk show.

Walters had heart surgery in May of 2010.

Last June, Walters apologized for helping Sheherazad Jaafari, daughter of the Syrian ambassador to the United States and a one-time press aide to President Bashar Assad get into college in the United States. Jaafari helped Walters get an interview with Assad in 2011.

Last December, walter asked New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie on “The View” if he considered himself fit enough to be president. The overweight Christie said he is.
