On Monday morning, reports began coming in of an armed Arab man walking around the lower campus of Ariel University in the Shomron. The Kitat Koninut (rapid response team) and the IDF were called in. Guards were placed at strategic locations, as well as at a nearby nursery school, and searches began for the suspect.

Security forces found the man, who turned out to be an off-duty, Bedouin IDF soldier who was walking around, out of uniform, with his rifle, and wearing a Sayeret Golani t-shirt, and a Kafiyah around his head.

The alert was called off.

(It was not this Bedouin IDF soldier, but it’s an interesting story to read.)

  1. As an IDF Bedouin soldier, might be as well not to wear Kafiyha, pretty obvious even to me, and I don't live in Israel, that the wearing of Kafiyha is likely to arouse suspicion. Maybe he just didn't think it mattered, all IDF guys and girls are great at protecting their nation Israel, just a little thing like this can spark/ignite fear.

  2. Abraham Santiago says:

The IDF Bedouin soldiers are great people and loyal to the State of Israel.
