Israeli military officials said a Code Red incoming rocket alert siren that was triggered shortly after midnight Tuesday night was a “false alarm,” but didn’t explain how the error occurred. The activation woke families up and sent them scrambling for cover in an entire section of Jewish communities in the Golan Heights.

Among the communities affected were Avnei Eitan, Bnei Yehuda Industrial Zone, Eliad, Afik, Bnei Yehuda, Givat Yo’av, Gshur, Haspin, Yonatan, Kfar Haruv, Mevo Hama and Meitsar.
