Cornell Students Firmly Reject Anti-Israel Divestment Resolution

The anti-Israel Divestment Resolution at Cornell was timed so that the substantive vote would come up in the middle of the Passover holiday.

However, the issue never went that far. The pro-Israel students at Cornell mobilized quickly and effectively. And proudly. The video below is of just the vote and the aftermath. It shows how the pro-Israel students showed up in force, sat respectfully, applauded enthusiastically, but not spitefully, and exhibited pride and self-respect. The losers were, in a word, sore.

“Students for Justice in Palestine managed to do something wonderful — unite the Cornell Israel Public Affairs Committee and Cornell J Street U,” Professor Jacobson said.

Watch the video.

great report, thanks to the students at Cornell for toppling this fiasco and thanks to the reporter for the backround info and sharing the good news. One less campus where hate and lies are given the finger and a big fat NO

  15. Lani Lowell says:

Sorry, that's one more campus that is victorious in defeating lies and slander!

  16. Alice Derman says:

Perhaps there is a lesson to learn from this: if people step up and present a reasonable defense of Israel's action the majority will understand. But for that to happen, supporters of Israel are going to have to study the arguments, prepare themselves, and then speak out.

  17. Congratulations, Cornell. I snicker up my sleeve every time I read of a college that agrees with BDS and passes this perversion of a resolution. For these colleges will be losing future top students who seek the most responsible and student-friendly institutions in which to hone their intelligence.
