Defense Minister Moshe Ya'alon.

Defense Minister Moshe Ya’alon once again had to apologize to the US for far too bluntly telling the truth.

US Secretary of State John Kerry spoke to Netanyahu and demanded that Ya’alon apologize.

According to State Department spokeswoman Jen Psaki, Kerry came just short of demanding from Netanyahu that Ya’alon resign.

As a result, Ya’alon spoke with US Secretary of Defense Chuck Hagel and said his that comments were not intended to express opposition, criticism or offense to the United States. Hagel accepted the apology.

The remarks that upset the US included Ya’alon pointing out that the relationship with the US is a two-way street, and listed some of the amazing Israeli inventions and technologies that the US has gotten in return for their investment.

Ya’alon also pointed out that US foreign policy is projecting an image of weakness around the world, and that is hurting the US.

Ya’alon bluntly said:

“If you sit and wait at home, the terrorism will come again. Even if you hunker down, it will come. This is a war of civilizations. If your image is feebleness, it doesn’t pay in the world. Nobody will replace the United States as global policeman. I hope the United States comes to its senses. If it doesn’t, it will challenge the world order, and the United States is the one that will suffer.”

Ya’alon also said the US is trying to avoid confrontation with Iran, and that Iranians are much better negotiators than the US.

Ya’alon had said that Israel had hoped the US would have taken the lead in stopping Iran’s from acquiring nuclear weapons, but now Israel will need to look out for itself.

Nothing incorrect in any of the above statements.

Ya’alon’s previous remarks that got him in trouble were about Kerry’s messianic obsession with Israel and the peace process.

Following the harsh reaction from the US, Netanyahu made an unexpected comment on the Knesset floor, where he thanked the US for their security and intelligence cooperation in connection to the capture of the Iranian weapons smuggling ship, the Klos C.

And while the US has been claiming it had some role in the capture, after it learned about it, this was the first Israeli statement connecting the US at all to the capture of the vessel, and one must wonder at the timing of the statement, and if it was made more out of political necessity than factual veracity.

  1. Unfortunately, there are people with little credibility, stamina, and who are gutless to commit to what they say. It’s a shame that these are tormented into submission, by the Government which I love. It’s not right to allow Liberalism to prevail over Right. It’s Time for a House Cleaning.

  2. Since when does Ya'alon have to apologize for saying that 2 + 2 = 4?

I can only conclude that the American press is just incapable of handling the truth about the Iranian threat and chooses to ignore it. The frankness displayed by the Ya’alon interview in Ha’aretz is just too much for the uninformed and sleepwalking US public to handle.

Now we see that the Obama administration is even less capable of handling the truth. Both the Obama administration and the American press live in a fantasy world they take for reality.

    Who’s Afraid of Moshe Ya’alon?

Ari Shavit: But the Iranians are rational, and the use of nuclear weapons is an irrational act. Like the Soviets, they will never do that.

Moshe Ya’alon: “A Western individual observing the fantastic ambitions of the Iranian leadership scoffs: ‘What do they think, that they will Islamize us?’ The surprising answer is: Yes, they think they will Islamize us: The ambition of the present regime in Tehran is for the Western world to become Muslim at the end of a lengthy process. Accordingly, we have to understand that their rationality is completely different from our rationality. Their concepts are different and their considerations are different. They are completely unlike the former Soviet Union. They are not even like Pakistan or North Korea. If Iran enjoys a nuclear umbrella and the feeling of strength of a nuclear power, there is no knowing how it will behave. It will be impossible to accommodate a nuclear Iran and it will be impossible to attain stability. The consequences of a nuclear Iran will be catastrophic.”

  3. Moshe Ya'alon needs to realize that U. S. diplomats are a bunch of whining crybabies. Never, never annoy a whining crybaby, they will shake their little fists and have a tantrum…they can be intensely loud…ear splitting loud, and they won't shut up until they are pacified. Other than that he did fine…until those who are really, really afraid of whining crybabies shut him up.

  4. How can it be that the 'cock-sure', elite 'intelligentsia', the Americans with the richest country, biggest military, etc. etc. cannot allow anyone to point out the truth??? Can it be that they are not so sure at all, of their position in the world and the correctness of their policies?? Are they afraid, like adolescents, that they are really very wrong and uninformed and bumbling with their so-called diplomats, Hilary Clinton, Susan Rice, John Kerry, and the "great diplomat" himself, Barack Hussein Obama??? The constant demands for retractions, apologies, and even firings by them, brings to mind that old saying, "Thou dost protest too much"

  5. As an American, I wish the Israel's DM would have said no, and then resigned if asked to by Israel, not America. Israel must stop kissing up to Obama and any US President that demands that Israel risk their safety and their land.

  6. why cant John Kerry stand up to Obama and tell him he isnt going to whine to the prime minister of Israel that his bosses feelings have been hurt, just goes to show how truthfull Ya"alon words are.
