Egyptian sources accused Hamas leaders of “abandoning” innocent Palestinian civilians by spending the current conflict with Israel abroad, including in five-star hotels in Qatar and other locations. The Israel Radio report also quoted Egyptian sources, who said that Khaled Mashal, head of the Hamas politburo, would not be visiting Cairo this to discuss an Egyptian proposal for a Hamas-Israel ceasefire, in contrast to Hamas claims.

According to Israel Radio, Egyptian authorities said Mashal’s claim to be headed to Cairo was the latest in a string of Hamas “lies.”
