Hundreds of Egyptians were injured with at least 1 killed in Tahrir Square on Saturday. Police entered the square to clear out tent protesters who had stayed overnight following a large protest on Friday, when the scene turned violent. Egyptian police fired rubber bullets, shot tear gas, and beat protesters. The protesters burnt 3 vehicles.

On Friday, 50,000 people, mostly Islamists, participated in a protest against the current Egyptian military rule.

Egypt is supposed to hold parliamentary elections on November 28.
