In the wake of news reports that Palestinian Authority terrorist leader and prisoner protest agitator Marwan Barghouti was caught on video secretly eating in his cell while his prison mates went hungry during a strike he was supposedly leading, an Israeli government minister has issued a comment about the discovery — and about the man who was caught violating the trust of his fellow inmates.

Public Security Minister Gilad Erdan said in a blunt statement Sunday night that Tanzim terrorist leader Marwan Barghouti’s so-called “hunger strike” was never really about the prisoners or their conditions at all.

“As I said from the very beginning, this hunger strike was never about the conditions of the convicted terrorists, which meet international standards.

“It is about advancing Marwan Barghouti’s political ambitions to replace Abu Mazen,” otherwise known as Palestinian Authority leader Mahmoud Abbas.

“Barghouti is a murderer and hypocrite who urged his fellow prisoners to strike and suffer while he ate behind their back,” Erdan pointed out.

“Just like he lied to the world when he wrote in the New York Times that he decided to strike in order to protest ill-treatment, he lied to the Palestinian public when he claimed to be striking.

“Israel will not give in to extortion and pressure from terrorists.”
