Facebook Menlo Park, CA, August 11 – Social media giant Facebook decided to accept at face value a report that a satirical website’s pro-Israel humor was worth censoring, while allowing dozens, if not hundreds, of hate-spewing pages to continue spilling their anti-Israel and antisemitic vitriol.

PreOccupied Territory administrators attempted to access the Facebook page today only to find a notice that the page had been “temporarily unpublished” for “controversial humor.”

No notice was given to the site administrators of any impending shutdown, and they were therefore unable to prevent or appeal the action.

The appeals process, if one exists, can only begin after a tedious verification process of the administrators’ identities, meaning that any remedying of the situation will necessarily deprive the fledgling operation of crucial time in its quest to establish and maintain an audience. The outcome of that appeal also remains unknowable at this stage. By contrast, the bigotry-laden pages of pro-Palestinian activists remain untouched.

It is unknown how many of those pages have been reported.

Facebook declined to comment on the incident, referring inquiries to a login page that merely reproduced the notice to the administrators and asked for photo ID with date of birth.

  1. Go to help center. Click on reporting things. There is a feature where you can send a note that describes your dissatisfaction.

The next step would be (shocker) to STOP USING the Facebook products if you disagree with their policies… Or to complain to the vendors that advertise on Facebook. They can pull their ads and put them on a different forum.

  2. Yeah, gotta love censorship! Wonder how his ‘wallowing-in-money’ butt would like it if another Jewish, Israeli or whatever personage, created a mega-hit social site…that trashed him back to his pizza-filled, idea-snatching, friend-bashing college days! (just for being a censorship advocate…)

  3. I don’t think he is seeing most if any of the complaints at all. I just wonder what kind of Jew haters he has hired to do the reviewing… I have reported White Power pages, a Holocaust denial page, scads of blatant anti semitic pages etc and almost none get taken down.

  4. You can put the blame on Zuckerberg all you want, fact is he has little to do with the decision making process when it comes to reports. Reports are necessary to push against a page. Enough reports get the attention of higher ranking managers. Without lots of people willing to organize and target such pages with reports for harassment, hate speech, discrimination, falsehood, etc. then a couple of busy people reporting here and there can do very little. Those few unnoticed reports go to medium and low ranking managers who get to decide whether it is a legitimate report or just some user’s not being able to understand the community standards or a false report, one that lacks enough evidence to present an issue worth “escalating” thus most of the pro-Pal pages stay, while pro-Israeli pages get wave after wave of such reports by hordes of thousands of users worldwide. If they have learned anything is how to organize an effective and strong protest, one that could cause enough shock and awe as to paralyze a community, and put them to blame one another for a collective mistake…
