Four Women of the Wall were detained on Thursday morning as they were engaged in the Rosh Chodesh (first day of the month) prayer at the Western Wall. Police also detained an ultra-Orthodox man and woman, who allegedly burned a prayer book that held by one of the women.

Among those detained was the director of the Women of the Wall organization Leslie Sachs, who said: “This is reminiscent of dark periods in our history when they took away the Jews’ holy words and didn’t let them pray. We want to pray at the Western Wall in the women’s section, as we always have done. It should not bother anyone.”

The five women were detained after violating the rules of the Kotel area and wrapped themselves in talitot. Meretz MKs Tamar Zandberg and Michal Rozin attended the ceremony.

  1. Maybe these four women out of their zealously to be equal to men had a female circumcision and a complete hysterectomy so there would be no concerns with niddah. The ultra-peace-now loving ones to insure that they remain calm at all times probably had a lobotomy. I mean if one of them had all three surgeries, there would be no fight for rights and she would be very happy to give up wearing her tallit and go scrub clean the Kotel parking lot with a tooth brush.
There was one woman a couple of years ago who came to the ramp leading to the men's section at the Kotel and bowed down one particular man at every word he said. She kept bowing down and standing up as he was talking. It looked suspecious because she bowed down right in front of him without bending her knees.
