Former Chief Scientist of Education Ministry: Cut off Gaza’s Power, Kill the Hamas Leadership

"The State of Israel must decide – no more terror."

Dr. Gabi Avital

Rocket Scientist Dr. Gabi Avital, formerly the chief scientist of the Education Ministry, Doctor of Aeronautical Engineering, who is running for a spot on the Likud list for the Knesset, spoke on Saturday night to a local Israeli radio station regarding the new barrage of rockets shot into Israel from Gaza, with four IDF soldiers hit while riding a jeep along the border. The interviewer, Shaul Cohen, asked if, with an angry public a million Israelis spending the night in bomb shelter, is the Netanyahu government isn’t performing now even worse than the Ehud Olmenrt government had done, facing a heating confrontation in Gaza.

Avital did not take the bait, saying earlier incidents, in Olmert’s day, were far more severe. Nevertheless, he stressed that it made no sense for a civilian population to remain under fire as hostages, in the name of the hope for some future negotiations for a compromise.

“The State of Israel must decide – no more terror. It’s true that this is an on-going war, but if a million people are held hostage, and the other side is allowed to shoot whenever they wish, with only minor retaliation, not the kind that would bring a resolution, this deems an examination.”

Dr. Avital said the Likud government, with, hopefully a different defense minister (the current minister, Ehud Barak, is loathed by the vast majority of Likud rank and file), must make good on commitments which were made in the past.”

Asked how he would deal with rocket barrages from the State of Gaza, Avital said, “We first must make the disengagement final. So far the disengagement has been one-sided. Israel continues to supply Gaza with energy: electricity, gasoline and consumer goods are still being trucked over. We must block all that permanently. If we are disengaged, then let’s be disengaged in both directions. And then we have to pick whatever targets must be exploded and destroyed in order that the citizens of Israel can live in security.”

The next phase in Dr. Avital’s plan is to “take out the heads of Hamas. Either kill them or take out Gaza as a whole, something totally dramatic.”

Asked to be specific, Avital said, “[We must tell them], if you keep the peace, you’ll get peace. Otherwise, your blood is on your own head, you, Hamas.”

But what should Israel do right now, after four IDF soldiers have been hit?

“I repeat, the reaction must be the annihilation of the heads of Hamas. Not the pawns, but [prime minister Ismail] Haniyeh and his people – the king and queen must go. This is why I insist that we must have a complete disengagement. The way we tried in the past to take out Arafat.”

Avital reminded the listeners of the last minute decision not to kill the late PLO chairman Yassir Arafat during the first Lebanon war, when he was already in the IDF’s crosshairs. “If we had killed him things would have looked much different,” Avital argued. “We would have prevented many deaths among Jews and Arabs alike.”

The interviewer asked if the killing of four Arabs, with 30 injured, last night was a sufficient response.

“I fail to understand the term ‘enough,’” Avital responded. “In my opinion it is forbidden to permit even one Israeli soldier or civilian to fall – and likewise on the other side. But right now we are not employing sufficient deterrence. What’s the meaning of ‘deterrence?’ the kind that would cause the other side to think a thousand times before they dare shoot. Right now they’re not thinking a thousand times – they just shoot. So they lost four men. What kind of game is this?”

How many Hamas heads must be killed tonight in retaliation for the shooting at out jeep? the interviewer wanted to know.

“Before we do that, we must complete the disengagement. First of all, we disconnect their electricity. No more electricity from Israel. No more Israeli goods. And we must pursue a similar attack to the one we launched against the Hizbollah in 2006, which was so harsh, they’re still keeping their heads down in fear. That would mean real deterrence. Today we don’t have real deterrence.”

Dr. Avital surmised that in the current government, Prime Minister Netanyahu has been unable to direct his Defense Minister Barak and the Chief of Staff Benny Ganz to launch a sufficiently massive attack on Gaza, suggesting the next government, with a different defense leadership, would do a better job.

Dr. Avital was fired from his post as Chief Scientist of the Ministry of Education following several statements that were met with severe criticism in the media. He objected to teaching the theory of Evolution without presenting students with the body of study objecting to the theory. He also objected to the notion that global warming was man made, and he also objected to recycling plastic bottles.

Dr. Avital is chairman of the organization of Professors for a Strong Israel.

We the Citizens of Israel pay our Electric bill, Gazan's don't: the owe millions to Chevrat Chashmal (Israeli Electric Company) we pay their bill…all of us pay taxes and that money pay's their electric (because they don't pay, we pay more per kwt ) they have the nerve and luxury to have to harass us.Cut the electric for non-payment, like the would do to us if we don't pay.

  3. Anton Shmerkin says:

Dr. Avital sounds like a major nitwit. I hope my Hebrew brothers in Israel will have the good sense to keep this criminal away from anything and everything resembling authority.

    • Rc Fowler says:

What you have written–is about yourself!

    • Rc Fowler says:

You are an ignorant Godless fool! Why are you here if you do not support Israel?

    • Anton Shmerkin says:

Support Israel doing what? Bombing and killing everybody in sight, like that dumbass suggests? I thought, Moses' times have passed and we are ready to look at the world as the 21st century people!

    • Rc Fowler says:

The problem with this among other things is Islamists do not think modern–but rather they are stuck in the seventh century.

Israel has never bombed or killed everyone in sight.

And good morality is timeless–the same good morality of thousands of years ago–is still up to date and relevant now.

    • Yehuda Cohen says:

Anton, it may be hard for you to understand being a leftist with a DNA defect to think straight, but, Arabs are not people. They are less than an animal dressed up in a human body. They kill they own children on a national scale of which no animal would do.

    • Anton Shmerkin says:

well, I guess our esteemed historian and moralist Rc Fowler is not familiar with the term "white phosphorus" and never read, for instance, Numbers 31-13-20. As far as Dr. Josef "Yehuda Cohen" Mengele there, fuck you, you fascist pig!

    • Liad Bar-el says:

Anton, Yehuda is 100% right. If you are able to comprehend the Torah even a little bit, Anton, the father of the Arabs, Ishmael, was called by G-d “peri adam” [a wild beast]
( שמו ישמעאל….והוא יהיה פרא אדמ) Gen 16:11 you shall name him Ishamel…and he will be a wild beast.

    • Anton Shmerkin says:

ah, that's nice. and the genocidal maniac moses is called a great man. swell!

    • Anton Shmerkin says:

And by the way, check out Gen 17:20

    • Liad Bar-el says:

Ok Anton, let’s take this in context. Gen17:15-21 “G-d said to Abraham, ‘Sarai your wife – do not call her by the name Sarai, for Sarah is her name. I will bless her and make her bear you a son. I will bless her, and she will give rise to nations; kings of peoples will descend from her and she will give rise to nations; kings of peoples will descend from her. Abraham fell on his face and laughed (Yitzchak). He said to himself, ‘Can a hundred year old man have children? Can Sarah, who is ninety, give birth?’ Abraham said to G-d, ‘It will be enough if Ishmael lives before You.’ G-d said, ‘Still your wife Sarah will give birth to a son, and you shall name him Isaac (Yitzchak). I will keep My covenant with him as an eternal covenant to his offspring after him. As for Ishmael, I have year you. I will bless him, make him fruitful and increase his numbers very very much. He will father twelve princes, and I will make him into a great nation. But My covenant will be kept with Isaac, who Sarah will bear you at this time next year.”

Now to your post. It took 2333 years before G-d’s promise regarding Ishmael was fulfilled. G-d had spoken to Abraham in the Hebrew year 2047 (1715 b.c.e. and Islam began 2333 years later, around 620 c.e. Through Islam, the Arabs, who are Ishmael’s descendants, began to become a world power. As I have learned from Yehuda Cohen, the Rambam, Rabbi Mosheh Ben Maimon (Maimonides), wrote a formal didactic (teaching) letter to the Yemenite Jews in 1172 informing them that Muhammad, prophet of Islam, is a false prophet and insane. This is born out throughout their history of violence up until this day. There’s no wonder why G-d said that His Covenant is with Yitzchak and not with Ishmael as G-d stated twice above.
Glad or sad, I’m not trying to make you either of them. It’s just the way it is. Have a good day.

    • Heeee Anton did you forget that Israel almost get attackt every day?
Should they takes this and do nothing back to make you happy?

    • Anton Shmerkin says:

just look at the stats, OK? just look at DATA, people! Facts! Figures!

    • Liad Bar-el says:

Anton Shmerkin "just look at the stats, OK? just look at DATA, people! Facts! Figures!"
Let's look at the stats, data, people.
"You (Israel) will chase away your enemies, and they will fall before your sword. Five of you will be able to chase away a hundred, and a hundred of you will defeat ten thousand, as your enemies fall before your sword." (Lev 26:7,8)

    • Liad Bar-el says:

The stats are that Esau is greater in number than Jacob which are in fulfillment of Isaac’s blessing to Esau.
Rabbi Yosi once questioned Rabbi Elazar (son of Rabbi Shimon bar Yochai) and asked, “Have you ever heard from your father a reason why the blessings that Isaac gave Esau were fulfilled, while those he gave Jacob were not?”
Rabbi Elazar replied, “You must realize that all these blessings conferred upon Jacob, either by G-d or by Isaac will ultimately be fulfilled. Jacob, however, did not want them to be fulfilled in this world. When the Masiach comes, Jacob will rule the world and Esau will lose everything, not retaining even the smallest portion. Jacob will then inherit this world and the next.” He explained that when Jacob left his father, he said to himself, “My wish is that these blessings be fulfilled in the World to Come.” A divine echo announced, “Although Esau enjoys his blessings today and dominates your children, in the future I will redeem them and they will dominate Esau forever.” (Zohar)

    • Anton Shmerkin says:

And THESE are your facts???!!! LMFAO:))

    • Anton Shmerkin you are the only person on this thread making any sense at all.

    • Anton Shmerkin says:

it's easy to make sense when the sensible thing is obvious: religious zealots and political extremists on both sides are fucking this whole thing up. abba eban used to call the israeli-palestinian conflict "the easiest question to answer" – the solution has been firmly in place for almost 45 years and yet the douches like this "doctor" still going strong. amazing.

    • Anton Shmerkin says:

Liad Bar-el Wow, man! Looks like you're WAY deep into the "Games Of Thrones"lol. Just make sure you never mention the Rambam's opinion on the Jewish elders executing Jesus to our Christian brothers (Maimonides described the punishment of the detestable Nazarene heretic as one of the greatest achievements of the Jewish elders, insisted that the name Jesus never be mentioned except when accompanied by a curse, and announced that his punishment was to be boiled in excrement for all eternity). Otherwise, you're liable to start being rocketed not only from Gaza, but from the US as well. And THAT is not going to do anybody any good!:))

    • Anton Shmerkin says:

Karla Lindquist it's easy to make sense when the sensible thing is obvious: religious zealots and political extremists on both sides are fucking this whole thing up. abba eban used to call the israeli-palestinian conflict "the easiest question to answer" – the solution has been firmly in place for almost 45 years and yet the douches like this "doctor" still going strong. amazing.

    what a racist fool.

  5. Yehuda Cohen says:

“This is why I insist that we must have a complete disengagement. The way we tried in the past to take out Arafat.”.

One must remember that it was the USA who ordered Israel to stop the effort to “take out Arafat”. It has been and still is the USA with their Muslim leader and Mother Brotherhood supporter, Obama, who is ordering Israel to not make a complete disengagement against Gaza nor make a large military action against it.

Israel should send people like Anton Shmerkin, Yossi Beilin and Zahava Gal-On to Gaza to make peace.

  6. Sarah Lascar says:

Dr. Avital is right in his statement to end terrorist shelling. This is unacceptable, and once Israel is seen as strong with control, then there might be an end in sight.

  7. Rc Fowler says:

Yes the power should be cut off and the Arab leadership and their lieutenants and their operatives should also be killed–and all of their means to wage terror war should be destroyed–and then the remaining Arabs should be driven from the land of Israel!

  8. Rc Fowler says:

Dr. Avital, "He objected to teaching the theory of Evolution without presenting students with the body of study objecting to the theory. He also objected to the notion that global warming was man made, and he also objected to recycling plastic bottles."

    He's right!

  9. Anonymous says:

YES, ISRAEL MUST take care of business, and all the things this guy suggests, I agree with. Why isn't this plan being implemented? Forget what the US says, and what world opinion says—-just get on with what's necessary.

  10. Tim Upham says:

Where the answer lies is international pressure to get Hamas to recognize the State of israel. When the Pope was in Lebanon, he should have called for it. When world leaders were speaking in front of the United Nations' General Assembly podium, they should have called for it. Someone in the United Nations should pass a resolution, that the United Nations Relief and Works Agency will cut off all funding to Gaza, unless Hamas does so. There is no reason why this cannot be a multi-lateral action.

    • Anton Shmerkin says:

Hamas has repeatedly expressed the readiness to recognize the state of Israel within the 1967 borders, which, I remind you, is the only internationally accepted and legitimate solution to the conflict.

  11. Anonymous says:

This is good sense. Hamas et al regard 'proportionality' (beloved of appeasing western nations) as weakness. The only way to stop these attacks is HARD, ruthless retaliation.

  12. Gail Coleman says:

Well, why should Israel abide by the Geneva Convention or any other international law now? They have not so far-what would be different?
