Weather forecasters are predicting the first major heatwave of the summer over the next week.

Beginning Friday,daytime temperatures in Jerusalem are expected to top 34 degrees (94 Farenheit) for the next five days, and will top 32 degrees (91 Farenheit) for the next week.

In eastern parts of Eretz Israel, temperatures are expected to hit 40 degrees (104 Farenheit).

The health ministry has warned the public, particularly the elderly and infirm, to avoid extended exposure to the sun over the next week, to avoid physical activity during daytime hours, and to make sure to remain hydrated.
