Hoyer Again to Lead House Democrats to Israel

By: JTA

Rep. Steny Hoyer, the second-ranked Democrat in the U.S. House of Representatives, again will lead fellow Democrats on a tour of Israel funded by AIPAC’s educational affiliate.

Two freshmen, Reps. Lois Frankel (D-Fla.) and Hakeem Jeffries (D-N.Y.), said they would be joining this week’s visit, which will include meetings with Israeli and Palestinian leaders as well as tours of U.S.-funded defense systems, including the short-range Iron Dome anti-missile program.

Such tours, funded by the educational affiliate of the American Israel Public Affairs Committee (AIPAC), routinely take place during the August recess of off-election years. Hoyer, the minority whip from Maryland, has led a number of the tours. A spokeswoman for Hoyer said that 31 of them are freshmen, out of 38 in this class of Democrats.

The Democrats’ tour, which lasts about a week, usually is followed by a similar tour for Republican freshmen. In past years the GOP visit has been led by Rep. Eric Cantor (R-Va.), the House majority leader and the highest-ranking Jewish member of Congress.

  1. I would rather fight a war based on truth than to live a peace based on lies. For a peace based on lies is never a lasting peace. So, let us be diligent to build a peace based on truth so we may have a true and lasting peace. With that in mind let’s move to the root of the problem. Lies. Many lies have been told over the decades and now the UN, USA and the world are even attempting to build a so called peace based on those lies. I suggest to those who want to better understand and recognize the truth to take a look at this simple web page. There are several other pages as well that they could look at, but this one is fairly small and gives you a pretty good starting point in your search for truth: http://www.invitation.to/dance/israel-balfouragreement.htm Now with that knowledge you should be able to see that Israel has had a great many bad deals forced down it’s throat. In my faith, God has brought the Jews back to their homeland again, just as he promised to do in the latter days. The muslims however deny in many cases that Israel ever lived in Jerusalem or had their temple there. To those I state the following: If evidence is not enough, then I have PROOF. The Roman arch was built after Rome defeated Israel in 70 AD. It shows carved pictures of Roman soldiers bringing back artifacts from the destroyed temple in Jerusalem. Here are pictures of the arch that still stands in the city of Rome today: http://www.aviewoncities.com/rome/archoftitus.htm.
Notice the picture that shows the implements of the Jewish temple. This is actual proof that Israel lived in Jerusalem and they had their temple built there. They have been brought back into their home land just as the Christian Bible states. If you won’t accept that, then perhaps your not interested in proof and facts. Any peace must not have Israel giving up any land, that is a sin against God. Sadly, without the giving up of land the Arabs will not make peace deals with Israel.

  2. Steny Hoyer has been a long time advocate for Israel and even though I am not crazy about AIPAC, I commend them for having these kinds.
of programs to keep the links between Washington and Israel secure.

  3. Fine
As long as he doesn't start another skinny-dipping party like the Republican house members did last year.

  4. Cody Flecker says:

One shouls always remember the Democratic Convention of 2012 when the Democrats after numerous resolutions failed about Israel finally passed the Convention through a back door approach. The Democratic Party is hardly a Party that Jews should call home. If anything, under the present President, it has become a party of bigots and anti semites. Steny Hoyer is part of that Party. I wouldn't trust him to support Israel when push comes to shove.
