Hundreds of thousands of Haredim shut down the entrance to Jerusalem on Sunday afternoon, protesting against the bill that would allow the government to put Haredi (Ultra Orthodox) draft dodgers in jail.

The protest was a peaceful one. The organizers called on participants to not join the army under any circumstances.

  2. To live in Israel and to protest a bill that will allow to draft all citizens equally. This is so wrong and on so many levels.

    Now they can get to work to make Israel the strongest country in the world. That means becoming a part of Israel not parasites. If they are not ready to do that, they should leave the country NOW!

    The Ultra-Orthodox are pacifists very opposed to war. They've opposed the War of Independence in '48 and every war since. They've been opposed to Zionism long before the State of Israel came into existence in '48 and have remained so ever since. And despite continuing to live in the country after it changed from Palestine to Israel in '48 they are vocally in support of Israel giving land to the Arabs for peace.

    The Ultra-Orthodox are conscientious objectors to war in Israel much like the Amish in America – who also are exempt from the U.S. draft and when there is a draft the U.S. Selective Service exempts them from serving.

    Dear responders, if you live outside of the land of Israel, you are clueless as to what is really happening here. For the Jewish self haters, I have news for you. The US is broke and the world hates Jews. Where else are you going to live? Now back to business with the rally. The IDF does NOT want religious soldiers because they are a MAJOR problem. They have to pray 3 times a day. They need to go to a mikveh (ritual bath), they have to have time to learn Torah. They need KOSHER food. Mr. Lapid has used a slogan that the KING OF THE WORLD, not Jesus is turning on his head. It is all politics to keep the population focused on this instead of Bibi gravelling to Obama on giving another state to the fake palestinians. What Gaza wasn't enough. Jordan's population is 80% palestinian. Prior to TV there were no palestinians. No ancient kings, cities, etc. The Romans did NOT want Judea and Samaria so they made up palestine. The lovely British government after they won WW1 from the Turks, also called it palestine. G-d, not Jesus runs the world measure for measure. The British hate Israel so they were pro Arab now they got a BIG problem. Their own soldier was beheaded on the street of London. Measure for measure. We are in the end of days. Let's see what tomorrow brings with Russia invading the peaceful Ukrainians. Note, the Russian naval fleet that brings weapons to Assad (Syria) is in trouble if the Ukrainians revolt.

    it is quite unfortunate that the IDF was not present collecting able body men to serve in the army instead of hiding behind Jewish girls having to serve on their behalf. Its is a waste of meat to have circumsized these fakers of Judaism who claim to study Jewish law while avoiding practicing it.

  9. If the Haredim don't want to work nor serve send them to Brooklyn where there is a large Haredi community. Israel has enough problems, they don't need these parasites.
