A Border Guard Police officer was wounded and an Arab attacker shot on Thursday morning in a terror attack near the Route 60 junction connecting Kiryat Arba with the ancient city of Hebron.

The officer immediately pushed his attacker away despite his condition, even as the terrorist continued to try to stab him over and over again, according to police.

A nearby Border Guard Police officer shot the terrorist, who was mortally wounded and died shortly after.

The victim remained conscious while receiving emergency medical treatment from an IDF medic at the scene before being evacuated to a Jerusalem medical center.

The Gaza-based Hamas terror organization has secured a stronghold in Hebron within the past several years.
