Rachel's Tomb, the grave site of the Biblical matriarch, has become a fortress due to ongoing attacks on Jews by Arab terrorists.

An IDF soldier was wounded late Wednesday afternoon near the Tomb of the Biblical Matriarch Rachel, while operating in the Aida neighborhood of Bethlehem, just south of Jerusalem.

The soldier sustained shrapnel wounds to the face when his unit was attacked by Arab terrorists who fired metal ball bearings at the troops.

One of the metal balls hit the eyeglasses worn by the soldier. Shards from his shattered glasses pierced his eyes.

The soldier was treated at the scene and then evacuated to Jerusalem’s Sha’are Zedek Medical Center for further care.
