IDF General Coby Barak, head of Israel’s Home Front Command, has ordered a complete halt to all military exercises until Friday.

All units have been ordered instead to conduct discussions of safety procedures, and to review what happens when those procedures are not followed to the letter.

The move comes in the wake of a series of incidents over the past several months that include various safety accidents. The most serious of all involved the tragic death of a soldier who allegedly fell asleep during a live fire exercise, according to one Hebrew-language media report.
