Iran is serious in its intention to improve relations with Saudi Arabia, hoping that both sides will try to revive the lost trust, Ali-Akbar Salehi, head of Atomic Energy Organization of Iran (AEOI) said last week, IRNA reported.

“I believe Iran, Saudi Arabia, and Turkey are three major countries in the region with special positions,” said Salehi, who served as President Ahmadinejad’s foreign minister.

“Saudi Arabia is home to the Qibla (the direction to which Muslims turn when they pray) for 1.5 billion world Muslims; the birth place of our Prophet, and the land for which the hearts of all Muslims beat,” he added.

Of course, the Saudis would appreciate such a neighborly outreach, seeing as they’ve been shaking in their boots at the thought that Iran is soon going to be capable of launching a nuclear strike against them, in addition to those prayers.

“Iran, too, is highly significant geopolitically and Turkey is great from the historical and many other points of the view, and these three countries’ cooperation will be highly important and beneficial,” Salehi noted.

The AEOI chief said nothing about the special relationship these three countries have had with Israel. I checked. That’s even scarier.
